Treating Dyslexia

Many of our concepts about what dyslexia is and treating dyslexia are born from a thirty second commercial that aired thirty years ago where they show the words “saw” and “was” spun around in a tornado effect. The most common indicator of dyslexia is to have difficulty processing the component sounds of the language. People with dyslexia typically have difficulty holding sounds in sequence in their memory. They may have difficulty:

  1. Putting sounds into written letters
  2. Saying individual sounds in words
  3. Blending sounds together to read words
  4. Listening
  5. Remembering what they hear
